FEATURES:No
domestic animals allowed. National Park car park has telephones,
toilets, showers, parking and an information area. The points
and bays along the safe walk have no facilities.
SURFING:Surfing
opportunities are endless for all wave craft and all levels
of surfing ability. The further out you get along the points
the larger and heavier the waves will be, beginners should stick
to First Point or Johnsons and more experienced surfers should
try Nationals or Tea Tree. The breaks are listed below with
a brief description.
First Point needs a medium swell to create a nice leisurely
ride, great for beginners. On a large swell the waves can be
a little steeper and the wave rider has many opportunities to
refine the cutback manoeuvre.
Johnsons is a similar wave to first point on medium swells
offering a leisurely ride. When the swell gets larger Johnsons
becomes a part of the National Park break with a challenging
section for the most experienced surfer.
National Park will be the first surf you’ll see after
parking in the car park. The wave can be an extremely long ride,
and on a solid swell can be a challenge for the most experienced
surfer.
Tea Tree has a very heavy take off zone and should only
be surfed by an experienced surfer if the swell is of any size.
Perfect barrels pitch over a rocky sandy bottom, with low tide
creating the heaviest waves.
Granite the last of the point waves will have the most
size. Granite is best on a medium swell for experienced surfers.
The wave is shorter than the previous points but can be an option
if the crowds are too heavy on the other points.
FISHING:During
winter when the swell is flat find some deep water at any number
of the headlands for some quality reef species. Fish all year
round for bream, trevally and reef fish. Remember rock fishing
is a dangerous sport and care should always be taken when fishing
close to the ocean waves especially the outer points where help
could be some time arriving.
WALKING:The
track out along the bays is very safe with a few hilly sections
the only challenge. Distances from the car park some for some
of the most magnificent sights and viewpoints are listed below.
