FEATURES:Showers,
Toilets, Dog off leash area from 4pm – 8am.
SURFING:A
nice right hand point break on a 2m plus southeast swell. If
the wind is light offshore Point Cartwright can handle very
large swell. The rock wall finishes the waves abruptly and it’s
wise to pull off before being obliterated. Many a board has
been obliterated in the rocks so pack a strong leash. 'Carties'
as its called by the locals should only be rode by the experienced
wave rider, crowds can also be a factor.
FISHING:Catch
anything from whiting to small reef fish to massive mackerel.
There are snags galore, a float or light sinker recommended.
Favourite bait used is the Western Australian Pilchard on Gang
hooks with little or no sinker depending on the wind. Winter
months when the quality fish seem to follow the mullet schools
is the time to break the surf rod and do some serious fishing.
WALKING:A
230m walk up Pt Cartwright Reserve to lighthouse and views.
Another 120m further down the hill to a secluded beach. |
